IT Sales Manager Position Summary:

As an IT technical sales specialist or Manager, you'll be selling hardware and software products as part of a sales team.

So, what will I actually be doing?

Shortly:

On a daily level, your job will include:

  • Finding the sales deals thru various channels;
  •  Determining a client's business requirements and whether the products being considered are suitable;
  •  Decide whether the software or hardware needs adapting to meet the client's needs;
  • Attending initial sales meetings and meeting the client;
  • Answering any technical questions the client might have;
  • Presenting your findings to a technical team to act on, and then to the client;
  • Responding to tender documents, writing proposals, reports and supporting literature;
  • Negotiating the terms of an agreement and closing sales;
  • Gathering market and customer information.

Largely:

The work of an IT sales professional falls into 4 main areas of search, pre-sales, sales and post-sale support of hardware and software.

The First Area includes Searching, identification, leads creation. The second area involves supporting pre-sales activities by giving detailed information about technical specifications and the ways in which they could meet a customer's needs. This often includes demonstrating those features/specs before a sale. In some cases it also involves responding to a PQQs, RFQs, RFPs, or ITT. The actual sale involves negotiating a commercial agreement to the benefit of both the customer and supplier. Technical support, which follows the sale, may include solving faults and problems, or maximizing the use of software features, as well as advising on appropriate user training.

To be good at IT sales you will need:

Must Have:

  • Excellent selling skills;
  • Excellent technical knowledge of both Hardware (Major Server and Networking) and Software;
  • A keen interest in IT issues;
  • Initiative;
  • Presentation skills;
  • The ability to write reports and proposals;
  • The capacity to work well on your own or in a team;
  • Negotiating skills;
  • The ability to manage your time and plan your day effectively;
  • Willingness and the ability to learn new platforms, applications, and tools utilized in existing sales process;
  • Fluent English and Russian communication Skills: writing speaking and reading;
  • Fluent Georgina Language is a Plus;
  • Powerful PowerPoint, Excel and Internet user with the ability of web research and analytics;
  • Comprehensive knowledge of FB, LinkedIn and other channels;
  • Emarketing tools like FB and Google ads.

 

Preferred Experience / Skills:

The role requires significant interaction with clients, which may be face-to-face or over the Email or telephone. The varied tasks carried out by IT sales professional include:

  • Excellent knowledge of leading Server and networking Hardware;
  • Good knowledge of Business Automation software family such as ERP, CRM, HRM, DMS, LMS, etc.;
  • understanding customers' diverse, specific business needs and applying product knowledge to meet those needs;
  • ensuring quality of service by developing a thorough and detailed knowledge of technical specifications and other features of employers' systems and processes, and then documenting them;
  • identifying and developing new business through networking and courtesy and follow-up calls;
  • cold-calling in order to create interest in products and services, generate new business leads and arrange meetings;
  • preparing and delivering customer presentations and demonstrations of the software, articulately and confidently;
  • maintaining awareness and keeping abreast of constantly changing software and hardware systems and peripherals;
  • developing effective sales plans using sales methodology;
  • providing technical advice to customers on all aspects of computer systems and software, both before and after the sale;
  • advising on software features and how they can be applied to assist in a variety of contexts, such as accounting, manufacturing or other specialist areas;
  • meeting sales targets set by managers and contributing to team targets;
  • networking with existing customers in order to maintain links and promote additional products handling hardware or software problems and faults and referring on to specialist technical colleagues;
  •  managing your own task management tools in order to organize and prioritize daily and weekly goals;
  • Contributing to team or progress meetings to update and inform colleagues.
