GeoCapital Microfinance Organization is seeking candidates for the position of Chief Accountant based in Kutaisi or Tbilisi. Though the final location of the position can be Tbilisi office, it is vital to spend and work with the local team for the first 6-8 months in Kutaisi.

A. JOB PURPOSE

Chief Accountant is head of Accounting Department. Chief Accountant is responsible to maintain all financial data in a compact and easy-to-use form. Chief accountant is a member of the management team, who plays an integral part in developing long-term goals. One of the major roles of Chief Accountant is to make sure the company is in compliance with internal and external financial obligations.


B. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES & ACCOUNTABILITIES
Manage, train and mentor the bookkeeping and general accounting staff.
Build a positive, self-correcting, efficient working environment.
Participate in the yearly IFRS audit process from the GC side.
Build a competent team that perform the following functions with minimal supervision:
Ensure that the work produced by the accounting department is of the highest standard and compliant with all Georgian regulations;
Provide all necessary information to produce monthly financial reports;
Provide all necessary information to produce quarterly NBG reports;
Produce and certify monthly tax reports;
Manage accounts payable;
Manage all general accounting work and processes, including general ledger postings;
Ensure all GC payments are made on a timely basis;
Perform any needed loan payoff / overdue loan calculations;
Complete all accounting work necessary to keep GC running properly and in compliance with IFRS and the Georgian Tax code.
Participate in defining and improvement of accounting policies, procedures and tools.
Assist with the selection and implementation of new general ledger software.
Research and understand the Georgian Tax code as it relates to matters of GC business.
Cultivate third party resources to validate accounting / IFRS / tax assumptions.
Represent the accounting perspective in internal GC management meetings.
Assist in reviewing any new credit contracts used by GeoCapital.

D. SELECTION CRITERIA

Minimum Education/Qualifications

Bachelor degree in Finance/Accounting/Audit.

Knowledge, Experience & Training
Excellent knowledge of International Financial Standards.
Good knowledge of Georgian Tax Code.
2.5+ years of banking, microfinance organization or audit experience.
